Background and latest updates...
Day-to-day planning and operations of this mission is by the Centre 81 Management sub-committee, part of the 'Mission and Justice Ministry' that is a committee of the 'Whitehorse Church Council'.
Our centre opened in May 1989 and has been offering companionship, referrals, care packages and food parcels for those in need for over 33 years.
During 2021, and even though the pandemic continued, our services expanded to include practical local support for the new homeless accomodation service run by Uniting VicTas, 'Marrageil Baggarrook', also co-located on the property.
While Uniting focus upon helping clients with temporary accommodation, facilitating government support and transitions, Centre 81 provides welcome hampers to new residents and assistance about local community amenities, services, transport and retail; plus all our usual fellowship and support.

Charities Christmas Card Shop
A seasonal aspect of our Centre 81 service has been the running of our Charities' Christmas Cards Shop in the months leading up to Christmas. This temporary shop was able to provide the wider community with a large variety of cards reflecting the religious season, plus has the added benefit of raising much needed funds for both the charities that we sell for and our own services to the needy which are under greater strain over the Christmas period. Due to the COVID-19 impacts, our shop was not able to operate for the 2020, 2021 or 2022 seasons.
Feasibility for the Christmas 2023 season remains under review. Contact Centre 81 for queries.
