Whitehorse Uniting Cluster
November 2020 - December 2022
Cluster Creation Summary
2019-20: After more than a year of meetings and processes, mostly under tough COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, our UCA Presbytery of Yarra Yarra formally recognised in November 2020 the congregations of Blackburn North / Nunawading (BNN), Forest Hill (FH), and Mountview (MV) forming the Whitehorse Cluster.
At last the three congregations, via a new Regional (Church) Council responsible for all ministry & mission across the cluster, were able to progress the calling of a shared ministry team, plus able to resume the stalled processes of shared worships and bringing the three congregations closer in relationships - towards becoming a single entity in the future, i.e. a new 'Whitehorse Uniting Church'.
Although the ongoing pandemic continues to severely hamper our efforts, we maintain strong hopes that the outcomes will be worth it and to the glory of God.

The team ministry & council evolution updates are ordered 'most recent' at top...
Council Update (Dec '22) - Excellent News. All three congregations resolved with Consensus to request amalgamation; and Presbytery subsequently made the formal decision with effect from 1 Jan 2023. Instead of 4 councils, we will have one new council to manage Stage 3 of our shared journey - more exciting times.
Council Update (Oct '22) - Our 3-Stage process towards amalgamation remains on-track, with all indicators continuing to show a very large majority will formally our request to Presbytery to proceed later this month. It is hoped these processes will complete for 1 January, when we hope to start running Stage 3.
Council Update (Jul '22) - Our 3-Stage process towards amalgamation continues closely on-track, with all indicators showing a very large majority continue to approve of this journey and the intended outcome. We have begun Stage 2.
Ministers Update (May '22) - Sadly, Sunday 1st May was Rev Pete Rivett's final worship with us, as his current time of supply (~13 months) has come to an end. We will miss him greatly and his wonderful family. We wish them the very best.
Council Update (Apr '22) - Results from our cluster-wide survey of all members about 'a shared future' is currently being reviewed, with a inter-congregational workshop being planned for later this month.
Council Update (Dec '21) - The end of year 2021 is also the end of the first year of being Cluster. The Regional Council recorded appreciation of the inaugural Chairperson (Rob Jackson) and Secretary (Lynne Rosenthal); and initiated steps for appointing office bearers for 2022. The council is very satisfied with all the very significant progress completed during the year and positively looks forward to the cluster's second year of journeying closer together.
Ministers Update (Nov '21) - Rev Pete Rivett has been requested to continue as our Supply Minister for a further 4 months (9 Dec-30 Apr), due to no suitable names being received from Synod Placements for filling the remaining vacancy.
Ministers Update (Jul '21) - Rev Pete Rivett has been requested to continue as our Supply Minister for a further 4 months (9 Aug-8 Dec), due to no names being received from Synod Placements for filling the remaining vacancy.
